CorVu Corporation a leading provider of enterprise performance
management solutions announced on Sept 19, 2003 that one of its
customers, the United States Army, has been awarded the prestigious
Balanced Scorecard Collaborative Hall of Fame Award. Joining a
select group of organizations, including CorVu customers Hilton
Hotels and PLIVA, the exemplary results of the Balanced Scorecard
implementation by the U.S. Army were recognized at the Balanced
Scorecard Government Summit held September 15-17, 2003, in
Washington, D.C. Fulton County (Georgia) Schools and University of
California, San Diego, also were recognized with Hall of Fame
Awards.
Hall of Fame
winners met the award criteria with breakthrough performance largely
as a result of applying the five principles of a Strategy-Focused
Organization. The five principles are: mobilize change through
executive leadership; translate the strategy to operational terms;
align the organization to the strategy; motivate to make strategy
everyone's job; and govern to make strategy a continual process.
Other selection criteria are: implementing the Balanced Scorecard
(BSC) as defined by Drs. Kaplan and Norton, the originators of the
methodology; presenting the case at a public conference; achieving
media recognition for the scorecard implementation; producing
significant financial or market share gains or accomplishing mission
objectives; and a CXO testimonial linking the organization's results
with its Balanced Scorecard.
Consisting of
over 1.2 million men and women, the Army continues to meet its
mission objectives on numerous fronts. It is also orchestrating a
profound and comprehensive effort to transform itself into a
technically advanced, nimble force able to respond rapidly and
decisively across a full spectrum of operations. Using the Balanced
Scorecard, the Army has achieved cross-functional coordination and
accelerated decision-making. With a clear articulation of its
mission and improved focus on stakeholders, the Army has been able
to map out its key internal processes in order to reconcile its
long-term vision of becoming the force of the future with its
current need to maintain readiness. The Strategic Readiness System
(SRS), the name it gives to its Balanced Scorecard, has been key to
achieving this transformation.
The Army
selected a CorVu application, CorStrategy, to provide an integrated
enterprise performance management solution to automate the Strategic
Readiness System. As a result, high-level strategy management is
linked directly to daily operational analytics, facilitating
effective management and communication throughout the Army, Major
Commands and Minor Commands. One of the largest Balanced Scorecard
implementations in the world, over 400 SRS scorecards are deployed
to a user base that will grow to
40,000.
